History of Forecastle Music Festival
Forecastle had held as a decent community event by JK McKnight at Tyler Park in 2002. It was extracted from two phrases nautical and maritime. Then it was pronounced by joining two words “fore” and “castle”.Formation as a neutral narration of art, music, and activism, the program was growing surprisingly and its listeners extended regionally. To accommodate the crowd the audience, the fest goes to a new place Cherokee Park in 2005.
Followed by,2006 at Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center, 2007 at Riverfront Plaza/Belvedere, and 2010 at Louisville Waterfront Park. The function’s name, layout, and idea were trademarked in 2007. It was ranked among the “Top 15 Festivals in the Country.” by Outside Magazine in 2009. In 2011, AC Entertainment became Forecastle’s co-producer. Due to the Corona pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the fest was canceled and rearranged in late May 2022.
